For the first two months of the pair’s relationship, they denied they were married.
But by the VMAs in September, 1994, she and Jackson were loud and proud, even sharing a kiss on stage.
Sadly, just two years later in 1996, Lisa Marie filed for divorce.
In a later interview, the singer called the relationship her greatest regret.
“My biggest mistake? Let’s see,” she told Marie Claire in 2007. “How can I word this? Um. Well. Leaving my first marriage, for the person that I left it for – that was probably the biggest mistake of my life.”
