Ellen DeGeneres has somewhat addressed her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche‘s hospitalisation following a fiery car crash.
Paparazzi asked the former daytime talk show host if she had spoken to Heche since the accident over the weekend, which saw the 53-year-old actress suffer severe burns.
DeGeneres, 64, had some brief remarks about the situation regarding her former partner, who she dated from 1997 to 2000. She is now married to Aussie actress Portia de Rossi.

“We’re not in touch with each other, so I wouldn’t know,” DeGeneres said of Heche, but she still confirmed on camera, per Entertainment Tonight, that she would send well wishes to Heche.
“I don’t want anyone to be hurt,” DeGeneres said.
“It was quite a dangerous accident that happened, wasn’t it?” DeGeneres was asked by a cameraman, to which she replied, “Sure was.”

Over the weekend – Friday California time – Heche crashed her blue Mini Cooper into a home in Los Angeles, which ignited a fire that required almost 60 firefighters to put out.
Heche was intubated at the hospital and sources close to Heche said she had a “long recovery ahead” in the intensive care unit, and she was “lucky to be alive.” Soon after, it was said Heche had moved to a “stable condition” from critical, but on Tuesday, it was revealed Heche was fighting for her life and was again in critical condition in a coma.
“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” a source told Page Six.

The Los Angeles Police Department received a warrant to test Heche’s blood on Monday with regards to determining if she was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Following the crash, fans noted worrying comments Heche made on her podcast Better Together about her real-time alcohol consumption in an episode posted hours before her car crash – but a producer for her podcast said the episode was not recorded on the day of Heche’s accident.
Police are currently investigating the crash, and said on Tuesday: “If found intoxicated, [Heche] could be charged with misdemeanour DUI hit and run. No arrests have been made so far.”
